Troubleshooting FAQsProblem: My Pool Sweep is moving too slowly or not at all Solution: #1 The most common cause to this problem is a dirty wall fitting screen. To clean it, unplug the sweep hose from the side of the pool. Look into the end that you just disconnected, and pull out the little basket inside. Rinse out that screen with water, place it back in the end of the hose, and re connect the sweep hose to the side of the pool. This usually does the trick. If it doesn’t, try solution #2. Solution #2 With the pump running, pull the sweep up near the surface of the water. Choose a spot or mark on the drive wheels to watch. Count the number of revolutions it makes in one minute. If it is not at least 28, then you may need to make an adjustment in the flow. We need to first determine if your pool sweep has a booster pump or is boosterless. If you have more than one pump, and it has flexible hoses coming out of it, you probably have a booster pump and should call for service. If you have only one pump, it’s likely you have a boosterless sweep that needs more water flow directed to it. To do so, begin by identifying the 3 way valve directly in front of the filter tank. Notice the tab on the handle that says “off”, As the handle turns, that “off” tab will begin to move over a portion of a pipe. The portion covered by the tab is representative of the quantity of water the valve is blocking inside that pipe. Turn the handle so that it restricts less of the water going into the pool sweep pipe, and restricts more of the water going through the return pipe. Make a slight adjustment, and count the wheel revolutions again. Keep making small adjustments until the wheels reach approximately 30 complete revolutions in one minute. If it still won’t work right, call for service. Problem: My Pool Light won’t turn on. Solution: Check the GFCI. On the control panel at the pool equipment pad find the electrical outlet on the side of the panel. There are two buttons between the plug-ins, one red and one black. Press the red reset button, and expect to hear a click as it resets. Try the light again. Small, but normal electrical surges can set off this very sensitive safety device. It is normal to experience occasional GFCI tripping. If pressing the reset button does not remedy the problem, or if the tripping occurs repeatedly, call for service. Problem: The bag on my Pool Sweep keeps getting caught in the wheels. Solution: Place 1 or 2 ping pong balls in the bag. |
